Our work together What is Psychotherapy & Counselling? Counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably, and in recent years are also referred to as “talking therapies.” There are many different approaches within this field, but at their core, these therapies aim to help us gain greater awareness of the inner belief systems that shape how we relate to ourselves and the world around us. These core beliefs often develop early in life and, if left unexamined, can continue to affect our adult experiences in limiting or painful ways. Some common examples include: I’m not good enough. I don’t deserve love or success. Life is hard. I’m unlovable. Becoming aware of our personal belief patterns allows us to begin questioning their truth. From this awareness, we can start to shift toward a mindset that feels more empowering, compassionate, and aligned with who we truly are. How Counselling Works Each of us is a unique human being, so the counselling process will look a little different for everyone. At its heart, the work begins with safety. My priority is to offer a space where you feel secure, respected, and free to go at your own pace. No subject is off-limits, and I bring my full presence to truly listen to what may be troubling you. If you're currently going through a very stressful time, we’ll start by gently calming the nervous system. Many people come to therapy with nervous systems that have been running on high alert for a long time, contributing to symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, overwhelm, or relationship difficulties. Together, we’ll explore simple, practical tools to begin interrupting the anxiety cycle and bringing relief. For some, this initial support may be enough for now. Others may feel ready to explore more deeply. In these cases, we might work with guided visualisations, dreamwork, or elements of Gestalt therapy to explore the deeper layers of the psyche. Many clients also find it meaningful to explore “Parts Work,” an approach that recognises we are made up of many inner parts, each with its own voice and story. Working with these parts can bring clarity, compassion, and deep emotional healing. At the core of my work is a deep trust in the inner wisdom of my clients. My role is to create a safe and supportive container in which you can examine the unhelpful beliefs you may be holding about yourself. Over time, I hope you experience more expansiveness, vitality, and the courage to create a life that truly feels your own.
- About Me | Elinamocane.com
Elina Mocane psychotherapist and counsellor in English and Latvian About Me I trained in Transpersonal Integrative psychotherapy, an approach that seeks to integrate Western and Eastern psychologies. It brings together various therapeutic modalities to best suit the unique circumstances of each client and fosters the innate human drive to achieve our full potential. My area of interest, both personally and professionally, is the human relationship with nature. This has led me to undertake research focusing on the psychological aspects of our sense of connection with nature, and the impact it has on our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. The findings of this research inform and enrich my work with clients. My passion is to find simple and practical ways to help clients manage their day-to-day emotional states, as I believe this builds a strong basis for a fulfilling life. It is my hope that through our work together you will experience more peace, vitality and empowerment in your life. Qualifications: Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy, the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education, London MA in Transpersonal Counselling & Psychotherapy, University of Northampton I am accredited by UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and registered with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
